The construction site for the construction of berth 28 at “Burgas West” terminal was opened on February 23, 2023, as the contractor for the construction works is “Port Infrastructure – KM 28” with partners “Glavbolgarstroy” AD and and ” Glavbolgarstoy International” EAD. The deadline for the implementation of all construction works on the site is the end of October 2024. The construction of the quay wall is caisson type and nine caissons will be built for this purpose within the project.

BMF Port Burgas AD is happy to share that the construction works on the site are being carried out successfully, according to the approved technical design.

To date, the excavation of the trench for the placement of the caissons and the excavation – crushing and transportation of stone and concrete blocks of the existing breakwater have been fully completed.

The construction of the nine caissons for the quay wall continues. The bottom of the last caisson is being built at the site of the Burgas Shipyard. All other caissons were brought to the territory of port terminal “Burgas East-2”. One caisson has already been fully constructed and three others are currently being completed.

At the same time, embankment and sealing of the foundation under the caissons are being carried out, and after the completion of these activities it will be possible to install the caissons in the design position, in stages.

The embankment behind the caissons is approximately 25% completed, with expectations for the same to be finished this fall.

Deliveries of various types of crushed stone to the site continue, with approximately 250,000 tons of rock material or 60% of the material required for the site delivered to date.

The rehabilitation works on the two adjacent railway tracks continue as per schedule, as the construction works are completed at about 65%. The track rehabilitation is expected to be completed in April this year.

Regarding the power supply works at the new berth, 200 linear meters of cable duct structures have been constructed to date, as well as two lighting pole foundations. The first lighting pole with a movable platform and height of 35 m has already been installed and is working for the needs of the terminal.
