BMF Port Burgas is proudly presenting an installation that is unique on the Bulgarian market – an installation for stuffing and stripping of bulk cargo in 20 ‘containers. Transporting grain in shipping containers has been the preferred method in this sector for a long time and such facilities are an integral part of container terminals in world ports. The installation is made by the team of ESIT Ltd. – a leader in the production, sale and service of electronic weighing systems.
The new way of handling bulk cargo not only reduces its cost, but also provides a higher quality of service:
1) The integrity and quality of the product is better preserved. For cereals, for example, this means less damage to the shell (flakes), which is a prerequisite for a higher value of the final product;
2) Maximizing the average weight of each stuffing;
3) Faster stuffing / stripping;
4) Creates a safer workplace through remote control and built-in security features.
What is specific about this installation is the exact angle of the shipping container. After precise calculations, the ESIT experts found that at a given exact slope the maximum useful volume is used. There is no other type of stuffing that can give such results.
How is the cargo handled?
A partition is installed in the opening of the container doors. It is a movable vertical structure that provides safe access to the cargo and limits its spill through the doors. The container is positioned on a lifting platform sideways with a forklift or reach stacker. The operator locks the container to the mobile ramp, then enters the container number and the necessary information for the weighing note, which will be printed later /type, brand and No. of the measuring equipment, validity of the calibration certificate, gross weight, tare, net, date and time, name of the operator/.
The platform raises the container until it reaches the working position and a movable chute is automatically lowered. The valve opens and the stuffing itself begins. A hydraulic excavator is used for the stuffing, which pours the load into the receiving hopper. When the pre-set maximum weight is reached, the scale automatically closes the valve and the chute rises. The container is then lowered to a horizontal position, the operator closes the door and releases it from the lifting platform.
The system automatically prints a weighing note. The scale is checked and marked by Metrology and has all the necessary certificates for commercial purposes.
With this installation, the Container Terminal of BMF Port Bourgas can provide stuffing of a 20 ‘container for 15 minutes with an optimal amount of cargo.
